Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)

EWM is a state-of-the-art standalone warehouse management system from SAP originally designed as part of the Spare Parts Management solution. SAP EWM was developed from scratch and features only minor similarities with LE-WM or TRM.

EWM is part of SCM and currently has to be run as a decentral WMS to a central ERP system. Obviously, the operation of EWM is not limited to spare parts warehouses; in fact EWM is all-purpose and much more powerfull and flexible than its precursor products. Some highlights of EWM:

  • New transport routing for real multi-step material transfer due to floor layout or process needs, including single steps executed by a 3rd party;
  • EWM manages the financial and the physical ownership of the stock flexibly which is of great interest for logistics service providers;
  • Packing, value-adding services or kitting take place at workcenters that are fully integrated into the new transport routing;
  • Individual processes for mobile data entry can be designed very efficiently and ergonomically using the RF-framework;
  • EWM covers the whole operative logistics processes including an improved integration of yard management.

From the first implementation of EWM by SAP, Westernacher has been part of the EWM success story: Westernacher was chosen by SAP for the first implementation of EWM and amongst others designed the user-interface of the automated small parts warehouse and the integration of the material flow system into EWM.

Today, our team of sophisticated EWM experts has a track record of projects and is happy to analyze and transform your requests always keeping the whole context in mind.
