Mailoptimizer is a system used by the German post office to apply electronic postage to letters, printed material and packages. Designed to meet customer demand for a quick and user-friendly service that is also cost-effective, it simplifies postage franking and introduces a cashless payment alternative.
A standardized XML interface enables customers to apply individual postage to all mailings sent from SAP, Microsoft Office, or other proprietary databases. Direct postings to cost centers and general statistics help customers allocate and control postage costs internally.
As German Post’s development partner, Westernacher can help you connect your IT systems to Mailoptimizer.
The Office Adapter imports address and transmission data, applies postage, and supports printing of your documents in Microsoft Word.
When you import addresses and transmission data from a file or a database, the application stores the data to enable further processing for:
- Allocation of the address and title
- Address verification and correction using Fuzzy Logic
- Automatic or manual creation of mail piles for postage application
- Postage application via Mailoptimizer, optionally with Datamatrix
The stamped batches can then be exported and forwarded to print preparation. It is also possible to create the output in MSWord. Word templates may be used to integrate data from files other than the address data files.
