Developing custom solutions with the highest quality

Central Registries

Central registries in the public sector have high requirements for usability, availability, security and performance. Westernacher devised and implemented a variety of central registries and supports the operating process.

Our technological focus in this area lies on web technologies like AJAX, REST services and JSON as well as java based open source frameworks like spring and hibernate.

A typical system architecture looks like as follows:

On the client side, we prefer the javascript GUI framework extJS, which allows the development of rich and sophisticated user interfaces in a short development time. By using AJAX and the fast and lightweight JSON interface, a very short reaction time is being achieved, which comes very close to a desktop application. By appliying the consequent separation of data and layout in the sense of a model-view-controller-architecture, we create low-maintenance and flexible software.

During the design phase, we pay much attention to a holistic IT strategy, comprising central components in the sense of a SOA architecture and aiming for an efficient and low-maintenance IT landscape.

Goals of SOA are predominantly to reduce redundancies of services and thereby software failures, the exchangeability of services without modifications to consuming components, reduction of vendor dependency and the elimination of proprietary interfaces (by implementing standard interfaces). This way, the underlying goal which is the reduction of the TCO of a system landscape, can be attained.

Our registers are partly available as web services and REST services for partners of our customers and software publishers in the sense of a global SOA across companies and authorities. Security is of high significance for us. We are familiar with the application and implementation of the WS-* specifications, which allow a secure und trustful use of web services. We are involved in the specification and implementation process of the S.A.F.E project of the “Deutschland Online” initiative. Its goal is a completely integrated E-government landscape in Germany. One main focus is the secure and trustful communication between services of different partners in a federal environment.
