Java Architecture

The architecture of a Java application should support processes and business requirements in an optimal way for many years. Very often, however, Java architectures suffer from overly complex design or don’t take long-term planning into account.

The Westernacher Java architecture Blueprint is based on simple, comprehensible concepts, open standards and modularity. Applications that have been developed using this Blueprint are stable, fast and can easily be extended with new functionality. They can be integrated without problems into the existing infrastructure.

The building blocks of the Blueprint are clearly defined:

  • A modular design with clearly defined system components and open interfaces
  • Use of proven frameworks
  • Service oriented, using Java Services as well as light-weight HTTP services (REST, SOAP)
  • Standards-based, e.g. CMIS, JCR, OpenSearch, Portlets, ...
  • Encapsulation of data in XML and JSON formats
  • A flexible presentation layer for the creation of user interfaces

Westernacher emphasizes the value of optimal usability. The Blueprint’s presentation layer allows for the creation of attractive, modern interfaces, dramatically increasing acceptance and efficiency of your staff. This is not only available for web applications, but for rich clients or desktop applications as well.
